This genre was also coined from their 1987 album Crossover.

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 28, 2009) – Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the most electrifying carnival to ever hit the summer concert circuit, is back…and bigger. Organizers of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival announced today that hard music legends MARILYN MANSON and SLAYER will top the bill on this year’s highly anticipated tour, which is set to kick off July 10 at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Sacramento, CA.

The festival will tear through 27 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Mayhem tickets will go on sale to the public on April 24—check www.mayhemfest.com and www.livenation.com for more info.
Like last year’s Godzillian-sized lineup, the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will feature a gaggle of rock’s heaviest bands:

the main stage will see Marilyn Manson and Slayer joined by BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and a special guest that will be announced in the coming weeks;
the Jägermeister stage will feature TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, GOD FORBID and the Jägermeister Battle of the Bands winner;
the Hot Topic stage will feature extreme metal bands CANNIBAL CORPSE, JOB FOR A COWBOY, BEHEMOTH, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL.

“Given the great success of last year’s festival, we knew that we needed to put together a stellar group of talent for 2009—and we have,” says Mayhem producers John Reese and Kevin Lyman. “This will be a blockbuster event, one that blends thrilling live performances with special music-related events and a few yet-to-be-revealed surprises. The result is a concert experience like no other. We’re extremely excited to get the show on the road.” Read More...

NINJA Tour - Nine Inch Nails, Janes Addiction, Street Sweeper Social Club

STREET SWEEPER SOCIAL CLUB TAKE NYC BY STORM * FIRST SINGLE "100 LITTLE CURSES" ADDED AT KROQ
DEBUT ALBUM OUT JUNE 16th
TOUR WITH NINE INCH NAILS & JANE'S ADDICTION STARTS TONIGHT * NATIONAL TV DEBUT JUNE 17TH ON LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON
Street Sweeper Social Club, the new band unifying Tom Morello and Boots Riley, took NYC by storm this week playing two surprise, impromptu shows at small clubs. Tuesday night, SSSC took the stage before a packed house at The Roots sold out jam session at Highline Ballroom and Wednesday SSSC rocked Kenny's Castaways in the West Village. Regarding the Highline Ballroom performance, Rolling Stone.com stated that SSSC are “…its own foot-stomping, teeth gnashing beast.” Their debut self-titled album of self-described "revolutionary party jams" is out June 16th through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. The 11-song set was produced by Tom Morello and features Boots Riley on vocals, Morello on guitar and bass, and Stanton Moore (Galactic) on drums. SSSC's debut tour with Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction kicks off tonight in West Palm Beach, FL.
SSSC is set to make their national TV debut Weds, June 17th on Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon. The band's first single, "100 Little Curses" just landed at radio with a huge buzz. KROQ/LA, 91X/San Diego, KFMA/Tucson and KJEE/Santa Barbera are all in early, with the official add day coming next week. Tom & Boots will be hosting MTV2's "Rock The Deuce" Saturday, June 20th. The video for "100 Little Curses" will debut on that show as well. Also look for SSSC to be featured on MTV's "The Drop" week of release.
** Advance Music For Long Lead/Tour Press is available now by request **
Tom Morello is a founding member and guitarist of the rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. The two bands are responsible for multiple Grammy Awards and a combined 30 million albums sold worldwide. Morello has also received critical acclaim as a solo artist known as The Nightwatchman. Widely celebrated for his unique voice as a master electric guitarist, he is recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the “100 Greatest Guitar Players of All-Time (#26).” He is also one of only two guitarists featured as a playable animated character in the overwhelmingly popular Activision video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Tom Morello graduated from Harvard University with honors as a Political Science major and has been a widely recognized political activist throughout his career. With System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Morello formed Axis of Justice, an organization whose purpose is to bring together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.
Boots Riley is best known as the leader of The Coup, the seminal Hip-Hop group from Oakland, CA. As a producer and lyricist, Riley has crafted critically acclaimed albums for The Coup that have graced the year-end Top 10 lists of Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and more. They have also received “Album of the Year” honors from The Washington Post, Time Out New York, while Billboard Magazine declared the group “the best hip-hop act of the past decade.” Born in Chicago and raised in East Oakland’s Funktown neighborhood, Boots became a teenage community organizer. From his history of student organizing in Oakland’s public schools, serving on the central committee for the Progressive Labor Party, being the President of Youth InCar (Youth International Committee Against Racism), organizing to build California’s Anti-Racist Farm Workers’ Union, to developing “guerrilla hip hop concerts” (mobile concerts on flatbed trucks), Boots Riley has been an integral part of the progressive struggle for radical change through culture.
